Founded in 1980 as Go For Broke, Inc. to inform the public about the military history of Nisei soldiers, the organization later changed its name to National Japanese American Historical Society, Inc. (NJAHS) to reflect its broader purpose. NJAHS is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and the historical interpretation of the Japanese-American experience for the broader national community. In 1999, NJAHS relocated its headquarters to Japantown across from the Japan Center and Japantown Peace Plaza. NJAHS publishes its quarterly journal Nikkei Heritage and produces major touring exhibitions, interactive educational CD-ROMs as well as other printed materials and visual aids resources. It incorporates the gathering of historical records, oral histories, and objects into a formalized documentation of history. WEB LINK: |
