South of Santa Monica, a small cluster of Japanese families settled in Ocean Park. Living close to the pier, several operated concessions, amusement, and café businesses in the 1940s. A Japanese school was also established in the area. Nothing remains of the former Japanese settlement along the Ocean Park pier.
